Port Hacking High School is one of the largest secondary comprehensive schools in the Sutherland District and is known for its academic, student leadership, performing arts and sporting achievements.
The school attracts students from the St George and Sutherland areas. Demand for places is high and there are waiting lists for most years. Due to increased demand within the school, the network connection became overloaded and the supply required an upgrade.
Edgewater Connections were engaged to provide an independent assessment of the existing network supply arrangement and the existing main switchboard and distribution boards with reference to current educational facilities standards and guidelines.
As the project progressed, Edgewater Connections were engaged by Education School Infrastructure to manage a suitable new supply and design, and coordinate the electrical and distribution upgrade. This included ASP Level 3 design to establish a new Ausgrid Kiosk substation and main switchboard and replace existing distribution boards and cabling to ensure the safe and reliable continuation of power supply to the school.
Edgewater Connections provided Education School Infrastructure with support in design and understanding of the process to streamline the project’s challengingly short construction timeline.
The scope of Edgewater Connections engagement included:
Ausgrid Level 3 ASP Distribution Design:
- Ausgrid Kiosk substation
Private Electrical Consulting and Design Services:
- Site demand assessment
- School distribution compliance assessment
- Main switchboard design
- Distribution design for compliance and safety upgrade
